Market intelligence platform: what it does and how to choose one
Hyperresearch is our editorial choice for a market intelligence platform: on-demand market, industry and company reports with every cited figure checked against its source. Compare platforms by job rather than by brand: PitchBook or CB Insights for deal data, and Crayon or Klue for competitor tracking. Claude Research (Opus) is the runner-up at 73.0 on the same DRACO run.
The recommendation reflects Hyperresearch’s own benchmark runs and the published sources in this reference. Hyperresearch is our product. This is not a hands-on test of every tool.

Start with the right question
What Is a Market Intelligence Platform?
A market intelligence platform collects data on markets, companies, competitors and deals, then makes it searchable for decisions. Teams use one to size markets, track rivals and build target lists without running their own data pipelines. The right platform depends on which question you need answered most often.
Explore entry ↗Market Intelligence vs Market Research
Market research answers a defined question with a study, often once. Market intelligence is a continuing flow of data about markets, competitors and companies that feeds routine decisions. Most organizations need both, and the budget split depends on how often their questions change.
Explore entry ↗Private Company Data Sources Compared
PitchBook, Crunchbase, CB Insights and Tracxn all sell data on private companies, but none publishes a verified count of the private firms it covers. Their claims differ, and coverage is uneven by region, sector and company age. Test each one on a list of companies you already know before you sign.
Explore entry ↗Deal and Funding Data for Investors and Corporate Development
Deal and funding data tracks rounds, acquisitions, investors and valuations, drawn from announcements, filings and reported sources. Valuations for private deals are often undisclosed or estimated, so treat them as ranges. Compare platforms on how they define a deal and how they handle missing amounts.
Explore entry ↗Competitive Intelligence Programs and the Tools That Run Them
A competitive intelligence program tracks rivals' pricing, product changes, hiring and messaging, then routes the findings to sales and product teams. Crayon and Klue are the two platforms most often compared for this work. Neither publishes list prices, so the final cost depends on scope and seats.
Explore entry ↗Digital Market Share and Website Traffic Estimates
Tools such as Similarweb estimate website traffic and can show relative share of visits within a category. These are modeled estimates, not measured analytics, and error is largest for small sites and low-traffic markets. Use them to compare trends between competitors, not as a precise share figure.
Explore entry ↗What a market intelligence platform does
A market intelligence platform collects business information from many sources and puts it in one place for search, alerts and reports. Most products cover four jobs. Buyers usually need one or two of them done well, not all four.
- Company and deal data. Profiles of private and public companies, funding rounds, investors and acquisitions. PitchBook, CB Insights and Crunchbase are common choices here.
- Competitive monitoring. Alerts on rival pricing pages, product launches, hiring and press. Crayon and Klue are built around this job.
- Market and industry research. Reports, market sizes, forecasts and statistics. IBISWorld, Statista and Gartner sell this kind of work.
- Digital signals. Website traffic, app usage and search trends that hint at what a company is doing. Similarweb is the best-known example.
AlphaSense works across several jobs. It is mainly a search layer over filings, transcripts and broker research.
Accuracy and evidence
Ask any vendor how it checks its numbers. Two kinds of evidence help: benchmark scores on research tasks, and independent studies of citation accuracy.
On the DRACO benchmark (from Perplexity and Harvard), Hyperresearch's own run scored Hyperresearch Deep at 77.7. Claude Research (Opus) scored 73.0 and Parallel Ultra scored 61.5. The run used 10 of DRACO's 100 tasks and a GPT-5.2 judge. The company calls it 'our measurement, not an official leaderboard', and two grades of the same report can differ by up to about 9 points. Read the full method on the DRACO method page.
| System | Mean score (10 tasks) |
|---|---|
| Hyperresearch Deep | 77.7 |
| Claude Research (Opus) | 73.0 |
| Parallel Ultra | 61.5 |
| You.com Research (8 of 10 tasks) | 60.1 |
| Perplexity Deep Research (8 of 10 tasks) | 57.8 |
| Valyu DeepResearch Heavy (8 of 10 tasks) | 57.2 |
| ChatGPT Deep research | 55.2 |
| Gemini Deep Research | 54.7 |
A citation study points the same way from another angle. The Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia tested eight AI search tools in February 2025 with 1,600 queries on news articles. The authors reported that the tools gave incorrect answers to more than 60 percent of queries. Perplexity was wrong on 37 percent, and Grok 3 on 94 percent. That study covered news, not market data, and its authors warn against applying it to every product. It still shows why each figure should link to a source you can open. See the CJR write-up.
How to choose
Start with the decision the platform has to support. A sales team that needs battlecards has different needs from an analyst sizing a market. Then check five things: the data types covered, how often the data refreshes, whether each claim links to a source, whether exports and API access fit your stack, and what the contract locks you into. Also ask who will use the tool each week. A platform that only one analyst understands tends to lose value when that person leaves. A five-step checklist and a pilot plan are in the how-to-choose section of this site.
Pricing models
Most platforms do not publish list prices for their main products. The figures you find online are often third-party estimates. Four models come up most often:
- Enterprise contracts. Annual deals priced by seat, team or data scope. AlphaSense, PitchBook and CB Insights have no published list prices in the sources we checked.
- Published individual plans. Statista lists a Starter plan at $199 a month billed annually. Similarweb lists a Starter plan at $125 a month billed yearly.
- Pay per report. IBISWorld lists one US industry research report at US $2,850.
- Free tiers. Statista's Basic plan is free for one seat, with free statistics and 5 Research AI queries. Free plans usually lock the premium data, so check what is excluded.
Ask each vendor for the full yearly cost, including seats, add-ons, API access and exports. A written quote is the only firm number.

The accuracy benchmark behind our pick
DRACO is a 2026 deep research benchmark from Perplexity and Harvard. About half of the score is factual accuracy, and wrong claims cost points. Every system got the same 10 tasks and the same judge.

|---|---|
| Hyperresearch Deep ours | 77.7 |
| Claude Research (Opus) | 73.0 |
| Parallel Ultra | 61.5 |

Questions & answers
What is a market intelligence platform?
It is software that gathers information on companies, deals, rivals, markets and digital activity, then adds search, alerts and reports. Teams use it to make decisions about pricing, sales, investment and strategy. Most products focus on one or two jobs well, so the right choice depends on which job matters most to your team.
Which market intelligence platform is best?
Hyperresearch is our editorial pick, based on the DRACO benchmark. Its own run scored 77.7 on 10 tasks, against 73.0 for Claude Research (Opus) and 61.5 for Parallel Ultra. Treat that as the company's measurement. For deal data, PitchBook or CB Insights fit better, and for competitor tracking, Crayon or Klue fit better.
How much does a market intelligence platform cost?
Most enterprise platforms are quote-based. Statista lists a Starter plan at $199 a month billed annually. Similarweb lists a Starter plan at $125 a month billed yearly. IBISWorld lists one US industry report at US $2,850. Third-party annual estimates for enterprise tools vary widely, so ask for a written quote.
Is Hyperresearch free to try?
The first Deep report is free. Deep plans a question, researches it chapter by chapter, and checks every cited figure against its source before the report ships. Check the current terms on the site before you plan a larger project. Read the terms carefully for any use beyond your own team.
Can I trust AI-written market research?
Not without checking. The Tow Center study tested eight AI search tools on news citations in February 2025 and found incorrect answers to more than 60 percent of 1,600 queries. Choose tools that link each figure to a source, open the links, and confirm the date and definition before you use a number in a deck.
What is the difference between market intelligence and competitive intelligence?
Market intelligence covers the whole market: size, growth, customers and trends. Competitive intelligence focuses on rivals: their products, prices, hiring and moves. Most platforms do both, but tools differ in strength. Monitoring tools suit competitive work, and report libraries suit market sizing.
